Brief Introduction to Industrial Economy Yearbook

I. Main Content of Data in Industrial Economy Yearbook
The Data reflect the basic situation of China's industrial economy, including major industrial economy data of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. It mainly covers data from 1989 to 2008 (except 1995, 1996 and 1998)
1. Numbers of all state-owned and non-state-owned above designated size industrial enterprises and their gross output value;
2.The main economic indicators and economic benefit indicators of all state-owned and non-state-owned above designated size industrial enterprises grouped by registration status and sector, light or heavy industry, the size of enterprises, industrial categories and areas are gross industrial output value, value-added of industry, total capital hold, total assets, total liabilities, circulating funds, fixed assets, liquid liabilities, long-term liabilities, creditors' equity, sales revenue, cost of sales, sales tax and extra, sales profit, total profits, value-added tax payable, ratio of value added to gross industrial output value, ratio of total assets to industrial output value, assets-liability ratio, ratio of profits to industrial cost, number of times of annual of turnover circulating funds, overall labor productivity and proportion of products sold;
3. The main economic indicators and economic benefit indicators of state-owned and state-holding industrial enterprises grouped by industrial categories and areas;
4. The main economic indicators and economic benefit indicators of foreign funded and funded from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan grouped by industrial categories and areas;
5. The main economic indicators and economic benefit indicators which divided large-scale and medium-scale industrial enterprises in industrial categories and areas;
6. Output of major industrial products;
7. Production capacity of major industrial products of key industry enterprises;
8. Proportion to total industry of main indicators by sectors;
9. Main indicators on economic benefit of industrial enterprises by status of registration.

II. Statistical Scope of Data in Industrial Economy Yearbook

Industrial statistical scope covers all the industrial enterprises in China (except Hong Kong and Taiwan). Industrial statistical scope in China before 1997 covers six parts classified by the relationship of administrative subordination, namely, independent accounting industrial enterprises and production of non-independent accounting units on and above the township level, village industry, urban cooperative industry, rural cooperative industry, urban individual industry, rural individual industry (village-run industry before 1984 was not in the industrial statistical scope).
Since 1998, industrial statistical scope in China has been divided into two parts which are all state-owned industrial enterprises with an annual sales income of over 5 million yuan and non-state-owned industrial enterprises with an annual sales income of fewer than 5 million, changing from being classified by the relationship of administrative subordination to by enterprise size.
The data in industrial economy yearbook come from all stated-owned and non-state-owned industrial enterprises with an annual sales income of over 5 million yuan, which is shorted as all state-owned and non-state-owned industrial enterprises.

III. Sources and Survey Methodology of Data in Industrial Economy Yearbook
Industrial enterprises data are collected according to the related data in annual report of industrial statistics. Annual report of industrial statistics is an overall report that statistics bureaus of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities report to the national bureau. The report comes from statistics departments at all level who make an overall survey according to local realities.
Industrial enterprises data (production capacity of major industrial products) include the production capacity of 42 major industrial products. The data come from related department; guild and parent companies are the main focus in the system.
