Brief Introduction to Environment Yearbook

The yearbook is mainly on the development of China's environment protection, including the investment in the treatment of water pollution, air pollution, solid waste, ecological environment, natural disaster and environment pollution. It is mainly on the management of discharge of industrial and residential waste water; the treatment of waste gas; the production, treatment and comprehensive utilization of industrial solid wastes; the environmental pollution accidents and investment in treating environmental pollution etc.
Industrial enterprises of which the pollution discharge volume accounts for more than 85% of total industrial pollution discharge volume are the key research objects. As for the non-key industrial enterprises of which the pollution discharge volume accounts for 15% of total industrial pollution discharge volume, the non-key research data are gained from measurement and calculation through the discharge volume of waste water, chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, sulfur dioxide, soot, dust and solid waste etc. The above two kinds of data constitute the data of industrial pollution discharge of different regions.

Pollution from daily living and others are measured and calculated by relative basic data and technical data. Besides, the data reflecting industrial and daily-living pollution since 1998 have better comparability. Statistics since 2001 are no longer classified based on industrial types of county-level and above.
The comprehensive range of the annual report of pollution discharge and treatment and utilization of industrial enterprises covers the industrial enterprises which have pollutants to discharge.

The comprehensive range of investment in programs treating pollution of industrial enterprises covers the investment in the rebuilt old industrial pollution sources treating programs. The programs which have been brought into environmental protection "three simultaneous" management in construction programs are not included.
The range of concentrated disposal of pollutants from production and daily living covers the dangerous waste disposal factories and urban sewage disposal factories.

The range of pollution from daily living and others covers sewage discharge of urban daily living and pollutants from waste gas discharge of daily living and other activities except industrial production.
